Is this your first year at ASU?

First-year students (not including new transfer students or online students) receive advising support in Armstrong Hall.

First-year advising

The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication provides academic advising on a scheduled appointment basis Monday through Friday. Walk-in advising hours will be available during critical registration periods at the beginning of each semester. Dates and times for walk-in advising will be announced on the website when scheduled.

Our academic advisors help students successfully transition to the university and make progress towards their educational goals and graduation. Communication majors are encouraged to meet with an advisor at least once a year.

Our Advisors:

Jason LaBret
Dan Schwimmer
Carol Comito
Barbara DeDecker

The advising offices are located on the 1st floor of Stauffer Hall, next to the undergraduate student lounge. Remember to review your DARS report prior to your appointment and bring a notepad to your appointment. Appointments are in-person on the Tempe campus.

Walk-in advising hours are available during critical registration times in August, November, January, and March.

For spring 2019, our walk-ins will be Monday, November 5 through Friday, November 9, 2018.  Times will be 9:30-11: 30 am - 1:30-3:30 pm daily.

If you are not in Arizona, you may schedule a phone appointment, but please remember that you are to CALL THE OFFICE to speak with your advisor at the scheduled date and time. If you are outside of Arizona, please make sure you are calling during Arizona time.

Advising appointments can be scheduled two weeks in advance Monday through Friday. If no appointments show available, please check the calendar the next day as another day will open for appointments.
