Biography

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Kelsey attended a small liberal arts college in southern Minnesota studying art history and English. While there she competed for the nationalized forensics team for four years including multiple national outrounds and final round appearances. Competeing in individual events drew her to pursue communication studies at Kansas State University. There she taught public speaking, coached the forensics team, and did research in organizational communication, social movements, and the rhetoric of trans* identities. In the Hugh Downs School she has done research on gender representation in cinema, ideological influences on the reception of Colin Kaepernick's protest, and narrative inheritance in family storytelling.
