The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication is proud to have more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate alumni excelling in careers across the globe. Our graduates include a Pulitzer Prize winner, CEOs, attorneys, professional athletes, and media professionals.

In September 2023, our PhD program reached a major milestone with the awarding of its 250th doctoral degree. This achievement reflects over 30 years of academic excellence, visionary leadership, and faculty mentorship. Our doctoral alumni include professors, consultants, researchers, deans, and entrepreneurs.

Jon Rahm wins 2023 Masters

Hugh Downs School graduate Jon Rahm won the 2023 Masters, securing his first green jacket and second career major championship. In 2024, he joined LIV Golf, where he clinched two tournament victories and continues to rank among the top players in the world.

Tim Vasquez

Tim Vasquez, a Communication graduate and the president of Someburros, has transformed a beloved family restaurant into one of Arizona’s fastest-growing Mexican food chains. With a focus on community, culture, and family tradition, Vasquez continues to expand the business while honoring the legacy his parents began in 1986.

Hugh Downs School Alumni Named to Sun Devil 100 List for Business Success

In 2025, 40% of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ ASU Sun Devil 100 honorees were Hugh Downs School alumni, recognized for leadership across nonprofit, corporate, health care, education, and creative industries.
