Biography

Marivel Danielson's areas of research interest are Chicana/Latina literature, sexuality, gender, performance, race/border/diaspora theory. She is an associate professor in the School of Transborder Studies. Dr. Danielson teaches at the graduate and undergraduate level, including courses on Chicanx and Latinx literature, transborder cultural studies, queer and Latinx performance She is a native of the midwest and is currently working on several projects tracing the presence and contributions of Mexican-origin communities in Minnesota and North Dakota. Dr. Danielson is also a creative writer and strives to integrate creative projects in the classroom to allow for uniquely relevant and self-reflective student engagement with course materials. 

 

Education

Dr. Danielson holds a B.A. in Spanish from Minnesota State University, Moorhead, MN, and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of Michigan.
