Mobile devices as distraction or learning tool? Dr. Shuter on KJZZ

Robert Shuter, research professor, and Pauline Hope Cheong, associate professor, recently completed two studies of university students and professors which revealed a large gap on the pros and cons of using mobile media devices for learning in the classroom.

Students believe that smartphone and laptops can actually assist them in classroom learning whereas professors see them as a real disruption.

In a recent interview on KJZZ (91.5), Shuter revealed that perhaps both are correct and that it’s time for professors to bridge the widening gap and end the ‘classroom war’.
