International Recognition for Outstanding Achievements in Organizational Communication

Steven Corman, HDSHC professor and director of the CSC, has been awarded the International Communication Association's highest award for outstanding contributions to the Organizational Communication discipline at their international conference held in Fukuoka, Japan on June 9-13, 2016.

Excerpt from Corman's award presentation -

"The winner of this year’s Frederic R. Jablin Award for Outstanding Contributions to Organizational Communication has a long history contributing to the discipline and sharing organizational communication scholarship across other disciplines. Few scholars in our field have the combination of outstanding scholarship and service to the field. He has won multiple awards for his work, from his university, and from ICA and other professional associations, even including an Award for Exceptional Scientific Achievements and Contributions from the U.S. Department of Defense. He has secured approximately $20M in research as Principal Investigator or co-PI over his career. His research is highly cited, with an H index of 23 and two articles that have garnered nearly 300 citations each. He is one of the few people in our field whose work has led to patents – in fact, two of them. He has supervised doctoral dissertations of some of the best known scholars in our field, including Craig Scott and Tim Kuhn. He has performed many service roles for ICA and other professional associations, including being the former chair of this division. As is no doubt apparent, he is highly deserving of this year’s Jablin Award. Our congratulations to Professor of Communication and Director, Center for Strategic Communication at the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication, Steve Corman."
