Hugh Downs School of Human Communication Invitational

The ASU Forensics team will host the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication Invitational January 5-7, 2017. The tournament, formerly the Southwest Championship, features competition in 17 public speaking and debate events over the course of three days. This year's tournament features over 1500 people from more than 100 schools. Twelve states are set to be represented at this year's tournament. Students will compete in 7 formats of debate, including Policy Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Value Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Congressional Debate. In Public Speaking competition, students will demonstrate their skills in 10 events that fall within the three categories of Limited Preparation, Public Address, and Oral Interpretation.
