Our general fund supports the special initiatives of The Hugh Downs School for special school and public events and guest speakers, and allows us to expand programs and research opportunities for our students and faculty.

The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication is proud to offer a variety of scholarships and awards to our students based upon merit, financial need or specific academic criteria. Your generosity will provide an enriched academic experience for our students. Your donation will strengthen whichever of The Hugh Downs School scholarship endowment funds needs support most, including The Hugh Downs School Study Abroad scholarship.
GIVE to the CLARK D. OLSON FORENSIC SCHOLARSHIP
This fund will provide the next generation of forensic students with assistance defraying their college tuition and expenses. The Clark Olson Forensic Scholarship Fund was established in 1999. This fund will become an endowed scholarship, something Clark worked tirelessly toward for the over 300 students he coached for 15 years as Director of Forensics.
GIVE to the KRISTIN BERVIG VALENTINE SCHOLARSHIP
This fund provides support to an undergraduate student who has excelled in performance studies communication classes and made significant contributions to the study of performance through creative activity, scholarship and/or community service. Kristin Bervig Valentine, Professor Emeritus of Communication and Women's Studies at Arizona State University, dedicated her career to research and teaching in performance studies. This scholarship was established in her name and has been awarded annually since 2000.
GIVE to the JUDITH N. MARTIN INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION SCHOLARSHIP.
Your donation will be used for scholarships for full-time or part-time international students pursuing graduate studies in intercultural communication.
Judith N. Martin, Professor of Communication at Arizona State University, dedicated her career to teaching, research, and training in the field of intercultural communication. She earned her B.A. at Eastern Mennonite University and after studying in France and teaching at Dra-el-Mizan High School in Algeria, she earned her M. A. and Ph.D. at The Pennsylvania State University. In addition to Arizona State University, she has taught at the State University of New York at Oswego, the University of Minnesota, and the University of New Mexico. She has published in communication and other disciplinary journals and co-authored intercultural communication textbooks and numerous articles with her colleague Thomas Nakayama.
GIVE to the CENTER FOR STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION
This fund supports the CSC's ongoing efforts in the global war on terrorism. Its scholarship includes research on improving U.S. performance in strategic communication and public diplomacy and white papers published by faculty and students from that research.
