The mission of academic advising at ASU is to further the teaching mission of the university by providing quality, accessible advising to all students. Academic advisors help students successfully transition to the university and make progress towards their educational goals and graduation. Advisors are part of the educational process providing academic information and guidance to help students understand curricula, policies, and procedures. Academic advising is a collaborative teaching relationship among academic advisors, students, faculty and the university community. Working with advisors, students identify academic and career goals, create and implement plans, and assume responsibility for their education. Communication majors are encouraged to meet with an advisor at least once a year to update information, go over academic plans and prepare for graduation.

Pay attention to deadlines
Advising appointments are not for scheduling your classes or registration. We can help you choose, but planning the perfect schedule is your task alone.
Classes are in great demand. You may not get exactly what you want, when you
want it, so have alternate options ready, and be prepared to be flexible.
To schedule an advising appointment, call 480-965-5095, or come to the school’s office in Stauffer Hall, 145 . Remember to bring a copy of your DARS report to your appointment.
