Dr. Kathy Miller, Texas A & M University, will deliver a research presentation, “Communication Standpoints and Tensions During the Twilight of Life”, on Friday, October 29, in Stauffer 431 from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm. Dr. Miller’s teaching and research spans the areas of organizational communication, health communication, and family communication, considering issues such as the communication of care and support in human and health services, emotion and stress in the workplace, and the development of identity among professional and family caregivers. She has published two textbooks, Organizational Communication: Approaches and Processes, now in its 5th edition, and Communication Theories, now in its 2nd edition. She is the editor of Communication Monographs, is the former editor of Management Communication Quarterly and has published widely in such journals as Journal of Applied Communication Research, Management Communication Quarterly, Health Communication, and Journal of Family Communication.
The Project for Wellness and Work-Life will host Eric Harding, Optimization Manager for Human Resource Employee Services at Intel, will speak about his work at Intel – “the world leader in silicon innovation” on Friday, October 29, in Stauffer Hall 431 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm. Eric and his group act as coaches and consultants in improving business processes, utilizing their expertise in Lean, Lean Six Sigma, Business Process Management and Project Management. Eric will provide a behind the scenes look at the processes that propel and motivate the employees in this fast-paced organization. Eric’s presentation will include a question and answer session.
